A forced small amount of bet, payed buy each player before each hand, for the sake of seeding the pot. Ante is used mostly in stud games, whereas Hold'em games uses blinds to get some initial money in the pot (Hold'em tournaments might use Ante in late stages). One of the purposes of the Ante is being a "tax" for playing so that players would not fold until they have a good hand. The amount for Ante in a Full Tilt Poker is usually about 10 presents of the lower limit.
