Ace to Five Lowball Style

Ace to five lowball online poker is a kind of a low hand poker game in which the best hand is A-2-3-4-5, that is where the games name coming from. Flushes and straights do not count for or against you, so they could be from the same suite or not, it doesn't make any difference. Ace to five lowball is a draw game in which there are three possible draws per hand.

 

The Blinds at the Online Poker Room

In an Ace to five lowball online poker room, just like in Texas Holdem poker, the blinds method is being used. That means that the online poker player seated to the left of the online poker dealer button (marked with a small D in a circle) is paying the small blind which is equal to half of the low stack. The online poker player sitting to the left of the small blind is the big blind and have to pay an amount equal to the low stake, i.e. double the small blind. Blinds are called so as they are a bet placed before seeing your cards.

First Betting round

After blinds are paid, the game start by dealing each player five private, down facing, hole cards. Than the online poker player sitting to the left of the big blind starts the first betting round. Players have the option to bet, raise fold or call.

First Draw

After the first betting round, the first draw round starts. Starting with the player to the left of the dealer button, each online poker player chooses between 0 to 5 cards he would like to discard and replace for new ones.

Showdown

The showdown takes place if there is more than one player left in the online poker room after the final betting round. All remain online poker players show their hand; the player with the lowest hand takes the pot. If more than one player have the same worst hand, they split the pot evenly. There is no suit rank to determine the winner.

Hands rank

The best hand in online poker Ace to five lowball is A-2-3-4-5 flush or not. That is because one, you want to have the best lowest hand and straights and flushes do not count at all. This best A-2-3-4-5 hand is called a wheel. The next best hand is 6-4-3-2-A, next is 6-5-3-2-A and so on. Remember that you don't want any pairs or three of a kind. A no pair hand beats one pair hand that beats two pairs that beats three of a kind. Straight and flushes are ignored and aces always count as the lowest card.

Joker

Ace to five Lowball online poker game uses jokers. The joker will always be used as the lowest card which is not present in the hand it is part of.
